5 Helpful Tips in Choosing Items for Your Wedding Registry

Fall season is almost here and survey shows that it’s the new most popular wedding season, with more and more couples choosing to say “I Do” during the months of September, October and November.

If you are one of the many Fall brides and grooms-to-be, I’m pretty sure you’ve already set up your wedding registries months ahead. In case you haven’t or your wedding is still months away, take a look at these helpful tips in choosing items for your wedding registry.

1. Choose items you truly love and guarantee to use.

It’s tempting to go all out on your registry… I mean, who doesn’t want getting whatever they want for free? But before you add every random item you think you “love,” make sure to ask yourself first if you’re actually going to use it. If not, find something else that will be put into good use.

2. Make sure the items fit your living space.

Again, it’s fun registering for every nifty item you see online and in stores but you have to set realistic expectations. If you and your partner live in a small apartment, where are you going to fit them all? Be wise in building your registry; make sure you have a place to store every item you add on your list.

3. Pick items that will stand the test of time.

Register with a place that allows group gifting so you won’t have to worry much about adding good quality items at a higher price point. Choose good quality items that will serve as “investment or heirloom” pieces too.

4. Choose classic pieces that you can mix and match.

Your decorating style will change over the years, so make sure to choose classic and neutral designs for basic homeware and kitchenware pieces that you can eventually mix and match with other items that you will be purchasing for your home in the coming years.

5. Don’t forget the fun stuff.

Depending on your interests, make sure to add in some hobby equipment. Outdoor grill essentials, workout equipment, tents or other camping gear, for example. It’s up to you.

Before you get carried away, keep in mind to carefully ponder on each item AS A COUPLE. Your guests will choose gifts for both of you, not just for the bride or for the groom alone. So set aside personal wants and just mesh your styles and needs in order to build the perfect wedding registry that will be very useful for your new life together as husband and wife.
