The way you begin your morning creates a big impact on how the rest of your day goes.
I’m sure you’ve had your share of awful days – a bad start of the day followed by a series of unfortunate events that made you say, “OMG! This is the worst day ever.”
The more you welcome your day with a negative mind state, the more you attract negativities to your day. So ward off that negativity by always starting your day with a positive vibe and here 8 ways to achieve that:
1. Set an intention.
Again, start your day on a positive mood AND that includes the night before. Have you noticed that when you’re feeling depressed on a Sunday night it usually carries on till Monday morning and the rest of the day? Yeah… So make sure to set an intention for your day the night before and as soon as you wake up. You want a blissful and productive day? Claim it!
2. Stop using the snooze alarm.
Nope, those extra 5 minutes in between hitting the snooze alarm over and over again won’t help you. Instead, it will just increase grogginess which will set your day off to a bad start. Sleep early at night or just place your alarm clock or phone as far away from your bed as possible.
3. Pray or meditate.
Pray, meditate or both. This habit will rest your mind, body and spirit and will help increase your brain’s production of happy hormones to bring your morning to a blissful start. Also, take this time to be thankful for a new and wonderful day ahead.
4. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Naturally, our bodies become a little hydrated after a long night of sleep. So make sure to sip on water first thing in the morning to hydrate your body and boost your immune system. And no, coffee doesn’t count. Make it a habit to place a bottle or glass of water at your bedside to have it ready as soon as you wake up in the morning.
5. Stretch it out.
Exercising in the morning is a great way to boost your energy and metabolism throughout the day. But not all of us have the time to squeeze in an early morning workout. But I’m pretty sure you have at least 10 minutes of extra time in the morning for some stretching exercises. As soon as you wake up and before getting out of bed, do some stretching to ease away any stress or tension and get your blood flowing and your body ready for the day.
6. Have a good meal.
Nothing makes a day worse than being hungry. If you don’t feel like eating a big breakfast, try making a green juice or smoothie instead.
7. Listen or read something positive.
Instead of turning on the news or reading the latest Hollywood gossip, watch, listen or read something positive and uplifting. This is a great way to put some positive energy into your mind and get your daily dose of motivation.
8. Give yourself a pep talk.
Lastly, give yourself a pep talk before you leave the house. It’s gonna be a great day! You know you got this! Say it loud and believe that you will.
And IF your morning does get off to a bad start, don’t give up just yet! Stop feeling like your whole day will be ruined just because of that. Just continue doing these habits mentioned above and you’ll surely have more good days and fewer bad ones.
