5 Reasons Why Self-Love is So Important

Self-Love – the greatest love of all.  Others may scoff at the idea, but that’s because they don’t know what it truly means.

True self-love is far from being selfish and narcissistic because you get to share this love to the people around you.  It’s a positive practice that leads to the ability to love others, which is not what narcissism is.

You see, narcissism is when you shower yourself with too much love without thinking about how to extend this love to the ones who need it.  Narcissists only think of themselves and are dependent on people’s praises and admiration.

So why is self-love so important, you may ask?  Let me tell you why.

1. It changes how you see the world.

When you love yourself, you see the world in a brighter, better and positive perspective.  Life may not be perfect and problems may come, but you just see these as challenges that you can surpass because you love yourself enough to believe in yourself and know that you can get through anything.

2. It helps you make healthier decisions.

Self-love becomes your motivation to take care of yourself physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.  You dismiss bad habits that will do harm to yourself and instead, do whatever you can to keep yourself healthy.  By taking good care of your health, you get to live longer not just for yourself, but also for your kids, significant other, parents and other loved ones.

3. It helps you accept and appreciate who you are.

Loving yourself means accepting who you are, flaws and all.  And when you’ve reached to that point of self-love when you’ve already embraced your failures, accepted your imperfections, appreciated your quirks and you celebrate your good qualities, you then become more confident and never envious of others.  By having this state of mind, you are ready to take on anything and everything that the world throws at you.

4. It attracts love.

It’s true, if you want others to love you, you need to learn how to love yourself first.  Self-love will help you attract love because love and positivity will radiate out from you, making you more approachable, loveable, confident and more attractive.

5. It teaches you to become grateful.

Self-love teaches you to become grateful.  When you love and take good care of yourself, it shows that you are being grateful to your Creator, for the life that He has given you.  Gratefulness is tremendously important.  I believe that a grateful heart is a magnet for miracles, and who wouldn’t want that? 🙂
