8 Tips to Make Gift Shopping for Your S.O. Less Stressful

We all want to show our significant others how much we love them, especially during special occasions like the holidays.  Every year, we aim to give our partners gifts that will surely put a smile on their faces.

So it’s completely normal to feel the pressure in finding the perfect present to give them.  But you know what?  It doesn’t always have to be that way.

Shopping for your love doesn’t have to be an overwhelming and stressful task if you follow these eight tips.

1. Get straight to the point.

Okay, this first tip is not for couples who want their gifts to be a surprise (which is probably most of you).  You can just get straight to the point and ask them what they want this year or have them share their wishlists with you to get a few ideas.  This way, you won’t end up purchasing the wrong gift.

2. Do a little stalking.

Put your stalking skills to good use and search through your partners’ Amazon search history, Pinterest boards, Instagram likes and old Facebook statuses to *fingers-crossed* find a social media activity that will give clues on what they’ve been eyeing on.

3. Think about what they need.

Gifts aren’t just all about getting what you want, but also what you need.  So think of what your partner may find useful and get it for them for the holidays.

4. Take note of their interests.

Think about their hobbies and how they like to spend their free time to get some inspiration.  By getting them a gift based on their interests, you can be confident that they will truly like and appreciate what you purchased for them.

5. Give an experiential gift.

On my previous blog entry, I shared various experiential gift ideas to get your loved ones this holiday season.  Unlike material things, giving your partner “an experience” is a gift that will last for a lifetime.  The gift will also be even more meaningful if you will be able to experience it together.

6. Subscription Box

Subscription boxes are gifts that keep on giving.  Why give them a one-time gift when you can get them one each month for three, six or twelve months, and even more? From snacks to gourmet desserts, skincare items to grooming essentials, cool apparel to fancy jewelries, the Subscription Biz has it.  For some inspiration, here are Subscription Boxes for the Gentlemen and The Best Subscription Boxes for Her.

7. Get creative.

Nothing beats a handmade gift to show how thoughtful you are for putting extra effort in making them something truly special.  Unleash your creativity and put together a gift that your partner will treasure forever.

8. Vacation/Staycation

Who wouldn’t love receiving a vacation trip as a gift?  This type of gift will create more memories and will definitely last a lifetime.  On a tight budget?  Well, who says that it has to be a vacation extravaganza?  It could be a daytrip or a staycation at home or in a nice hotel nearby.

At the end of the day, there is still no greater and more special gift than unconditional love.
