Break ups are never easy, whether you are the partner who got dumped or the one who initiated it. Either way, breaking up with class is the healthiest way to say goodbye.
Although it won’t remove the pain, at least it will make the heartache a lot easier to cope up with.
If you ask me how to handle breakup with class, here are my 5 helpful ways:
Never “ghost.”
This goes for the partner who wants to initiate the break up. “Ghosting” is a slang word used to describe the act of immediately ceasing all communication with someone you no longer want to date. Yup, like completely disappearing to thin air without any notification – such a disgraceful and disrespectful thing to do. Please don’t do this. Just don’t.
Ok, one exception — if the breakup is due to your partner being physically abusive, you might want to move to someplace safe.
No more blaming.
There’s no use of arguing over who’s fault that the relationship didn’t work out. A failed relationship is a failed relationship. I’m sure that both of you have somehow contributed in bringing it down. So quit the blame game and just accept the fact that both of you failed in making your relationship succeed.
Be mindful of your words.
Hurt feelings are normal in any breakup and I understand how difficult it may be to control your anger towards your ex when it’s a bad kind of breakup. But you have to know that cursing, trash talking, posting mean things on social media and such won’t make any positive difference. Instead, it will just make you look bad.
Don’t hook up with someone new right away.
I’m sure you know what I mean. And I know that most of you do it on purpose to make your ex jealous. Sorry honey, but again, this will just make you look pathetic. There are many ways to heal in a positive way and jumping from one lover to another is not one of them.
Focus on yourself and the things that make you happy.
It’s okay to feel sad. Duh, you’re not a stone. You’re a beautiful human being with feelings. So as much as possible, bring the focus back to you instead of sulking over the breakup. Discover new hobbies, try out something new, travel, get a makeover… anything that will make you feel good about yourself again.
Remember guys that there’s nothing more classy than individuals who don’t show any sign of defeat even when they’re hurting inside.
So put on that smile of yours and stay classy!
