On my previous blog, 5 Ways to Love Yourself More as You Move Into a New Year, one of the self-love resolutions I mentioned was to spend more quality time with oneself, as it does wonders for your physical, mental and emotional health.
If you’re not regularly spending time alone, you’re not living your best life.
So why not make a resolution to go on more solo adventures, whether it’s just taking yourself out for movies or traveling alone?
Yes, everyone should consider traveling alone at least once in their lifetime, especially while you’re single. Because when you’re in a relationship, you will more likely want to explore the world with your sweetheart, right?
To convince you more, here are 5 reasons why:
1. You can work on your bucket list.
Sometimes when you’re with a partner, family or friends, you may hesitate to do things you’ve been dying to try because of course, bot all are willing to go skydiving or bungee jumping. So this is the perfect time to travel to places you’ve always wanted to visit and do the things on your bucket list.
2. You can meet new people.
Traveling on your own is a great opportunity to meet locals and fellow tourists from all over the world. Be open to making new friends while also making sure that you stay safe at all times.
3. You can do everything you want and choose not to do something you don’t want.
Again, traveling with other people always involve hesitations, considerations and compromise. But when you’re alone, you can do whatever you want, anytime you want. And you are not obliged to entertain anyone but yourself. You can plan your itinerary as you like and not having it run by other people.
4. You get to discover yourself more.
When you’re alone you have nothing to depend on but yourself. You are pushed out of your comfort zone and you are able to see more of what you are capable of. Being on your own also allows you to take in experiences more fully and gives you the opportunity for soul-searching.
5. You will feel empowered.
Not everyone will feel comfortable being on their own, especially in a place that’s foreign to them. But once you to take the plunge and get over this fear, you will definitely feel stronger, empowered and confident to face more things that you’ve always been afraid to try.
So give yourself more self-love this year – try traveling solo once, and you’ll surely find yourself scheduling trips more often than you expect.
